115 small children in this orphanage!

The Ukrainian Pajama Parties!

The director of this orphanage had originally asked if there was any way that we could possibly provide ten pairs of pajamas for her children. "How many children do you have here" Mr Gleason asked. The Director said, "We have 115 children, but if you could at least give us ten pairs of pajamas it would help so much. These children don't have any thing to sleep in."

With the help of the Hesperia Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all 115 children received a new pair of pajamas! They now sleep much warmer!

After a lengthy week of shopping in the open street markets for pajamas (here 10, and there 10), we finally have enough pajamas for the 115 children 3-6 years old. Here the pajamas are stacked in the proper size and order, and made ready go.

There are over 100,000 orphaned or abandoned children in Ukraine. Alcohol is the largest contributor to the problem.

100 little children ages 3-6 (mostly 3 and 4 years old) line up for the pajama party. 15 children were in the sick bay and could not come out to play this day. The nurse had to give them their pajamas for us.

Elder Richards has his hands full as he funnels the children in the right direction.

The fishing booth was a big hit at the party. Members of the Branch, along with the missionaries had a great time with the kids. Everyone left a little better than we came.

A successful fisherman at the fishing booth thinks that the party was GREAT!

This little fellow received some cookies at the "cookie walk". He also got one of the many puppets that a friend of our daughter and her family had made for the orphan children. Making the puppets for the orphanage was their special Christmas project for their family this year.

This young lady thought that this was the BEST party ever!
