The First Ukrainian Pajama Party!

With the great help of the Hesperia Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the local Ukrainian Church members this was a fantastic success!

Your church, congregation, or club can help too! We are nondenominational. The Blueberry Children's Foundation will gladly work with you on any worthwhile humanitarian project! Just let us know that you have the desire to help!

The need is great. A single pair of pajamas can nearly double the wardrobe of many of the children in orphanages in Ukraine. A pair of pajamas helps the children to sleep warm at night, and gives the workers a chance to laundry the children's day clothing. More importantly, playing with the children, and giving them personal attention helps them to feel loved.

Mrs. Gleason buying pajamas from the open market bazaars on the streets of Ukraine. 10 here, and 10 there, 45 down, with nearly 400 more pajamas to go on this particular project. It's not as easy as going to Wal-Mart, but it does help to spur their very sluggish economy.

Forty-five orphan children wear their very best to the party. They are not quite sure what to expect. They were pleasantly surprised!

The "Cookie Walk" was very popular!

A friendly local volunteer played Ukrainian music for the cookie walk.

The "Fishing Booth" was great!

The cookie walk and the fishing booth really paid off for this little boy!

This little boy wants to say "thank you" from the bottom of his heart. He was a grateful little boy. His pajamas still had the "tag" on them. He was so happy about that. The children seldom get anything new.

A perfect fit!

The 3 year old children had a lot of fun. (See how they held on to their tags.) They loved their new pajamas, and they especially loved the hugs they each got from all of the volunteers.

It is so amazing what a little pair of pajamas will do. Mix the pajamas with, cookies, toys, and lots of love, and you get back the best hugs in your life!
