The 2006 Pajama Parties

The Ukrainian Pajama Parties!

We Gave 3,000 Pairs Of Pajamas To The Kids!

Thank you so much for your support with our 2nd Annual Pajama Party for orphan children in Ukraine.  What a party it was!  We gave away over 3,000 pairs of pajamas, along with hundreds of shirts, hats, scarves, and lots of treats for the kids. We played games and gave the kids all of the love we could.  It was a grand time.  AND there is more to come!

Here are three of our happy customers.

All together we were able to give pajamas at 24 orphanages and homeless shelters for street kids in Western Ukraine.  The project was so much more than just giving away pajamas.  We were able spend time in each facility playing games with the kids and helping them to feel loved. It was a very long and exhaustive trip, but the happiness in each of the children's faces made it all worthwhile.  We could not have done it without you!

Here are the kids patiently waiting for us to show up and to start the party.

Some happy children!

Look at these little angels!

Jardin and Ken bring in the pajamas.

We actually had a very large truck full of pajamas packed in large bags like this. Every time we took a bag in we felt like Santa Claus making a delivery.  In Ukraine they call Santa Claus "Father Frost".

We had the pajamas manufactured for us in Ukraine.  This  eliminated import tax and customs fees.  It also helped the local economy in Ukraine.  Unemployment is very high in Western Ukraine (over 30% in many areas).  The factory greatly appreciated our business, and they did a fantastic job making quality pajamas.

This little fellow sang a song for us to get the party started in this particular orphanage. The directors of the orphanages were very honored that we would come and bring the children gifts.  They would often have a little presentation like this prepared by the children to show us their gratitude.  We often heard the directors say "How did you know that we needed pajamas for our children?" or "Our children had nothing to sleep in at night - until now".

The best was "You not only brought us pajamas, you brought us hope!"

James keeps the pajamas coming!

It was a pretty big feat coordinating all of the orphanages and having the right size and number of pajamas at each facility.  We simply could not have done it without our wonderful volunteers who sacrificed their time and money to come along.  We are so grateful for them. There were 28 volunteers this year. Three family groups came with some of their children. It was a wonderful experience for them.  In each city we also recruited local volunteers from churches to help us as well.   It took everyone of us to get all of these pajamas delivered and to love up these sweet children.

Does anyone want to adopt me?

The Kids had a blast!

These little fellows thought that the party was SUPER!  Let's do it again!

The pajamas are on, and the Tootsie Rolls are in.

We gave the children just enough treats to make it a real party, but they had the most fun playing games.  The children seldom get visitors.

You have to just love thisw little face!

This was the BEST party ever!

Coleen and Karen bringing in the boys!

They loved the games!

My turn!   My turn!  My TURN!!!

A little attention goes a long way in the orphanage.  This was a day that these children will never forget.  We don't want them to forget it.  We want them to remember all of their lives that someone loves them.

The kids loved the Limbo stick! They could have played this game for hours.

We only played simple games like, Limbo, London Bridges, Bean Bag Toss, Ring-A-Round The Rosie, Duck Duck Goose, and such, but the children thought it was great.  We did not even need to speak Ukrainian to communicate.  They understood.

A perfect fit!

Some happy pajama smiles.

It does not take very much to make children in the orphanage happy.  We could not have done this without your help.  Thank you so very much for what you did.  You can see the results on their faces.

Hats and scarves were part of the fun, thanks to our wonderful donors!

A fun party, hats, and pajamas!  That is about as good as it gets!

Their faces say it all.

It was a very exhaustive trip, but every time we would pull into another orphanage and see the excited children, all of the fatigue would vanish and the fun would start again.  The room would fill with laughter and our hearts would fill with love.  Yes, we'll do it again next year.

The boys loved to arm wrestle Ken.

The children in the orphanages see female workers every day, but seldom do they get to interact with men (or even see them).  For the most part, the women working in the orphanages do an amazing job, but the children greatly need a "father" figure. We are so thankful to the good men who took of their time and resources to come and bless the lives of these precious souls. I think that this is what the epistle of James refers as being "true religion".

The children loved Ted

He was like a big daddy bird giving all of the little chicks treats to eat. They  kept coming back again and again!  It was pretty fun to watch.

Two angels with new pajamas and great big smiles.

A time to sit and talk after the party.

We couldn't say much, but we could smile at each other, and we all knew the feelings of the heart.
